IBM thinkpad R50e?

I can't turn on my thinkpad. A few months ago, my ac adapter cord started making sparks whenever I hooked it up to my laptop. I have since bought a new one, but now my thinkpad won't let me on. I seems like it's about to start up (all the lights turn on) then goes on sleep mode. I don't even see the windows logo on the screen.
I can only do this when the ac adapter is hooked up, the battery is completely dead. Also when I leave it to charge, the battery light never changes from yellow to green. Is it the ac adapter or something else?

..... if you've been using a computer that's been sparking for a couple of month's, i'd say that the damage has probably already been done... It sound's like you've cooked your'e system... Alway's take some sort of action the minute you notice unusual heat build up... Never wait for spark's or smoke. By then, the horse has probably bolted... It's doubtful you've got much choice now, but to take it to a few technician's to see who will quote the lowest to repair it...

Laptop Hard Drives

Laptops look like small notebooks or large notebooks which are only about 0.7 to 1.5 inches thick, and it has a size ranging from 10 x 8 inches to 15x11 inches and up. Most modern laptops weigh about 4 to 12 pounds. The older models were much heavier.

A subnotebook is a laptop designed with a long life battery. It is commonly lighter and smaller than usual laptops, weighing about 0.8 kilograms to 2 kilograms. Its battery life can exceed approximately 10 hours.

The notebook is another classification of an energy-efficient laptop, economical, lightweight and optimized for wireless Internet access. It is mainly designed for e-mailing and web browsing. Notebooks have a wide variety of light-weight operating system such as Windows XP and Linux.

Most laptop hard disk are normally smaller, about 2.5 inches or 1.8 inches as compared to desktops with 3.5 inch hard disk. The more recent models are more expensive but are lighter, power-efficient and have faster hard drives. 260 to 320 GB sizes are the current usual sizes for hard disks now. Most of these drives are easy to install because both the hard disk and the laptop are smaller as compared to a desktop.

Installing a New Laptop Hard Drive

Back up your important files. If you are changing an existing hard disk and it is still functioning, back up all import files stored on the drive.

Turn off your laptop and unplug the cord. Find the slot that homes the hard disk, then remove all screws that connects it to the slot cover. Then, smoothly pull out the hard disk. The laptop hard disk is enclosed in a sled form housing linked to the slot cover.

Remove the old hard drive from the laptop and attach the new drive. Restore the sled screw but do not over-tighten it. Align the new drive pins with connector in the laptop, then slide the new drive into the slot and then restore the cover.

Restart the laptop and follow the instructions in user manuals to enter the system's BIOS. If the new hard drive is properly installed, it will be recognize by BIOS. Load the operating system disk into the DVD or CD drive, reboot the laptop and then follow the directions on the screen and then install the operating system. Once the operating system is installed, move your important files to the new laptop drive.

Supply Adapter Sony

ipod will not charge using a USB power adapter but works fine if i connect the dock connector to the computer?

I bought my ipod 5.5g 30g just last june. My brother bought 2 sony walkman music players as well and he bought an adapter where you connect the cable supplied with the music players and then plug it into a wall. I used tha adapter to charge my ipod for the first time and it worked perfectly. But that was the only time that i got to charge the ipod using that adapter because it wasn't mine. i had to connect it to the computer. Probem is, right now, the ipod is still charging if connected to the computer but not if connected to the adapter. The adapter still works on my brother's sony walkman player and i have tried several wall sockets already. also, i have the latest update on my ipod. does anyone know what's wrong with my ipod? Also, if its a problem with the ipod, will the power mac center here in the philippines accept my unit for repairs considering that i bought mine in singapore. i still have the original receipt.

The problem is that you cannot charge an ipod to something other then an iPod charger or adapter. There are many types of iPod chargers, and you should have gotten one that connects to the computer in the box that your iPod came in.

Voltage Transformers are used for metering and protection in high-voltage circuits.
