(MSI nVidia NX8800GTS-T2D640E-HD-OC 640MB Graphics Card) just in case link doesn't work!!
squeeze into a Dell Dimension 9200 and what sort of cooling problems may I come across? Perhaps some hardware techy out there may be able to suggest another card, better\cheaper. I am anticipating problems!
Thanx in advance. Peace out
erk.. thats an old card and uses an out-of-date chipset. you would be better off with an 8800gt or an 8800gts 512meg, both of which use the g92 chipset and are much better cards.
The 8800gt is 100 pounds cheaper and will blitz the 640meg gts which uses the g80 chipset.
the machine you have does have a pci-e slot. depends on whether you are using the adjacent pci slot as to whether the card will fit.
Your PSU is 375 watt which may be a bit under par for the 8800 series, which I believe needs 400watts.
Trust me about the selection of card though, you can see the benchmark on the 640meg gts vs the 8800gt and 8800gts 512meg here

Recently I attended an online gaming convention to check out some acrylic computer cases. Generally at these conventions, all the radical gamers gather to get the first look at some of the latest clear computer cases, and custom computer cases. My son and I were amazed at all the "buzz" that some of these cases created. We wanted to discover why gamers were so passionate about them.
I had decided to shop for a new computer case because, quite frankly, my son was driving me NUTS. Recently, he had added a panel of transparent acrylic to the side of his gaming computer, and really loves it! So, naturally he thought old dad needed to join the 21st century of gaming! I had given the purchase of a whole new system some serious thought, so shopping for a spiffy case seemed like good timing. My son informed me that acrylic computer cases were the way to go, so I decided to narrow my search to them.
I discovered that basically two varieties of clear cases were available. One type was much like my son's case. That is, they have side panel "windows" of acrylic. They have the advantage of allowing owners to view the inner workings of their computer, without being as prone to scratches and smudges.
The other variety, which I eventually settled on, is completely composed of acrylic. When LED lights are added to the interior, these totally transparent cases are quite an impressive sight !Besides, I got a full acrylic case because I have always wanted to be "cooler" than my son! So now, when guests come for a visit, our first stop is my computer room. I generally will turn off the lights, and turn on my computer. The reactions that I get are very interesting to say the least. It is amazing how few people have seen these jazzy acrylic computer cases!
At the convention, the most remarkable computer case we came across had the most elaborate water cooling system, fully visible within the computer. It was the coolest of all the cool acrylic computer cases
