How do you turn on a wireless compatibility switch on a dell inspiron e1405?

I have no wireless connection on my dell when i just had connection last week. It says i need to turn on a wireless compatibility switch and it is found on the side or the back of the laptop and there is no switch. so how do i turn it on?

I could be wrong, but I think it is Fn + F2.

Can you change the cover on a Dell Studio latptop?

I have a Dell Studio 15 laptop (Model PP39L) and I was wondering if I could switch the cover of it. If so may you please provide instructions or a link to instructions of how to do this.
Please do not recommend skins, I want to replace the physical cover.

You would have to take the guts, motherboard and disc drive out of your old one and buy another shell from Dell... That would much depend if they have that model still in stock... Call Dell and find out first.

Normally a laptop battery can run up to 2 hours, but more often it run less than that. After sometime, we notice the battery running shorter and shorter where we need more often to charge it. As for another type of battery, which is Lithium based battery, it's advisable to use the battery until 10%-20% before you charge it to full. On Windows base, you will get alert that battery is running low and you should start charging it.

So far we have cover how to charge the battery effectively, but how about effective usage of laptop battery. On Windows base, it's recommended to use the Power Schemes for Laptop to control how the laptop behaves after a period of inactivity. Example, when running on battery, after 5 minutes, it will turn off monitor. After 10 minutes, it will turn off harddisk. After 20 minutes, the laptop will go into standby mode. This can greatly reduce the drainage on the laptop battery.

Second way to reduce battery usage is to lower/darken the laptop monitor brightness. Brighter screen consumes more power compare to darker screen. Thirdly, when running on battery, try to minimize the number of active applications running at the same time. Each application consumes processing power, so more processing will use more power from the battery. Lastly when laptop is not in used, set the laptop to standby/hibernate mode. This can be done by pressing the 'power' button once or just close the laptop lid.

Another last tip on reducing battery power usage is to avoid using external devices like external harddisk, external DVD writer and iPod. These devices does not have its own power supply, therefore it will drain the power directly from the laptop battery. If you really want long runtime on laptop that running on battery, you should consider getting a 9 cell battery. On down side, it will be bigger and add extra weight to the laptop, but on the good side, it can last for up to 4 hour runtime.

By knowing these facts and tips, you should be able to prolong the laptop battery lifetime and also maximize your runtime when running on battery.

It is usually located on your computer usually in the back (For desktops) or on the bottom (for laptops). It should be pretty easy to find. How can I hook up two monitors to one PC?

I have a Dell XPS 400 and in the back it has a dvi and vga port. I have the vga port hooked up to my Vizio tv in the vga port on that. I have the monitor that comes with the computer and it has vga and dvi ports also. To get it hooked up to the monitor should i run it through a dvi cord, or get a dvi to vga adapter and plug the dvi in the pc and the vga into the monitor?

Doesn't really matter, as long as you can hook em both to the comp. I don't see any real reason to actually buy an adapter...

The Ipod has been a huge revolution in todays society, replacing the walkman and the discman as the most popular method by which people make their music portable. You'd be hard pressed to find someone in most developed nations who didn't have an Ipod in some form, and if you did they'd probably be asking for one for their next birthday or even Christmas.

However as we all know, new technology does often come with that niggling problem of usability. Imagine having this great piece of technology but not being able to take full advantage of it due to not having enough expertise with the machine. One of the most vital things you need to know to use an Ipod effectively is obviously how to download music from the computer to an Ipod.

There is no shame in admitting you have some trouble downloading music from my computer to your Ipod because we all need to go through that first learning curve with a new piece of technology. I was no different and when I first got the Ipod it did take me some time to work it all out. So once I had it all figured out it struck me that a brief guide on how to download music from the computer to an Ipod would probably be quite appreciated. Hopefully this may speed you up and make you more comfortable with your Ipod sooner rather than later so you can enjoy it to the full.

So the first step is obviously having music on your computer to download to your Ipod. Music can be obtained via various methods, either by downloading them from a subscriber site or converting your cd collection to mp3 via a conversion program. I have included a link to some great subscriber sites at the end of this article, some of which come with bonus converting software on signup which will allow you to convert your whole cd collection to digital mp3 form.

The next step is of course to find the song or video you want to watch on the subscriber site. Once you have found the desired file, make sure you choose the Video Ipod/ Sony PSP download option. This is simply to ensure that you get the correct file type to be watched on your Ipod. Then you'll need to download the file to a place on your computer, it is best to create a folder called Ipodfiles or something similar so you will know exactly where they are. If of course you are using conversion software to convert your cd collection then the software will lead you through the process.

Once you have your music or movie on your computer, it is then time to connect your Ipod to your computer via its USB cord. On most newer computers there is a USB port at the front of the computer, otherwise it will be at the back just below where you plug in your keyboard and mouse.

Open the Apple iTunes application. Select 'Add File to Library' from the 'File' menu in the iTunes application. Browse your computer for the song you previously downloaded and click 'Open.' Then Click 'Edit,' then click 'Preferences in the iTunes application. Once that is done click the 'iPod' tab, then click 'Songs,' and then 'Automatically update all Songs.' Lastly, you should click 'OK.'

This is where Apples Itunes software really comes into its own, as it will do all the work for you from this point on. It will automatically download all the music onto your Ipod for you, then all you need to do is select the file in your Ipod and you'll be good to go.

If all instructions above have been followed correctly you should have been able to successfully download a movie on your Ipod, and been able to watch it. As you can see, it is not a complicated process and you should be able to achieve this quite easily.

As mentioned above, one of the most important parts of this process is picking the right subscriber site. The wrong one will not have the selection you desire, and could end up costing you more than you are willing to pay if it charges download fees. So I have created a small page with links to two great Ipod sites which do not charge download fees and have a massive selection of songs and movies. But don't take my word for it, check them out for yourself and pick the right one for you.

Can i charge my hitachi camera via the USB cable?

I have bought a new hitachi hdc 1087ep 10mp camera but the person who i bought it off did not have the charger. Can I charge the camera via the USB cable or do I need to purchase a AC adaptor? If so where can I find one?

Working in the cable installation industry implies to work with different pieces of equipment that can go from a simple screwdriver to big cable drum stands used to carry cables. It also means using arc flash PPE or arc flash protection clothing as working around electric cables and electricity can be very dangerous.

Some of the equipment you may also come across is a drum cradle. This is part of the drum handling equipment you will certainly need to manipulate drum and of course use the cable on the drum.
Drum cradles and more particularly flatbed railway drum cradles are specially made to help move a drum and unroll or roll the cable around it to then use it. Those railway drum cradles have been designed to be mainly used on the rail network and when cable installation is needed around rails.

The braking system in those drum cradles includes different elements that guarantee full pressure stringing of the cable used. It is also galvanized to prevent the metal and whole structure of the cradle from rusting and being corroded by the rain for instance. It also has strong brakes to make sure the whole structure does not move on the rails while being used to install, repair or replace cables.
It also exists less advanced types of drum cradles that are only used to carry smaller drums from one place to another in a factory or a storage facility.

When used near a source of electricity, it is important, because it is made of conducting materials, to wear arc flash protection clothing even if the handles for example are usually protected by insulated plastic.
A lot of companies working in the cable installation field also use other more high tech equipment like rugged laptops and probably equipment to measure the electric intensity around a cable or a pole or even something to check if there is no problem on current cables.

Obviously, a cradle is not something you would use to carry drums. You would need a drum trailer to carry the cable drum from one point to the working area but then you would need a big cradle like one we have just talked about to put it into action, especially if the work is done on the rail network. On top of that, different other pieces of equipment would have to be used to ensure of a well done and safe job.
