how do I activate the infrared port on my Dell Latitude D610?

I can see it but I can't make it work

Aside from being one of the thinnest there is on the market, the Asus K50IJ-RX05 is also very light at 5.7 pounds.

The Asus K50IJ-RX05 has an ergonomic keyboard, big enough for touch-typing. One's hands can easily spot the touchpad because it is well integrated to its chassis.

Able to last a long time without AC power, the Asus K50IJ-RX05 is still able to give out a satisfactory performance even though it has older technology powering its operations as compared to other laptops in its class.

Cons:

The specifications also allows for multi-tasking, where the user has several programs running simultaneously.

Cons:

The HP Mini 311's biggest disadvantage is its delay in booting up. Aside from that, some users will have difficulty with maneuvering the touchpad.

I have bought a dell Latitude D510 but original owner is no where to be found... i called dell but they wont help can anyone help me?

That won't work, there is no jumper on that model, try removing the cmos battery for a couple hours that might clear it, if it doesn't then call Dell again

Dell Latitude Cpi

My Dell Latitude CPi will display yahoo IM but will not display any web pages. Any ideas on how to solve this?

I have Windows Xp with service pack 2 and IE7 installed. Using linksys wireless notebook adaptor. I used it this way for 4-5 months and about 1-2 weeks ago stopped displaying web pages. Yahoo messenger loads up fine.

You'll need to provide more information than that, and probably do some digging at your end:

1. Which browser are you using? Does the problem happen on both IE and Firefox?
2. Have you tried connecting to a different network (not using your current wireless network) such as one in a cafe?
3. Does this happen when you switch to using a wired Ethernet connection?
4. Try creating your own web page on your local system and opening it in the browser - does it open and render correctly?

Try resetting your IE settings. Tools->Internet Options->Advanced Tab->Click Reset

Are your security settings set to too high? If so, try lowering it to Medium or Medium-High.

Are your privacy settings set to too high. If so, try lowering them to Medium.

Is your Content Advisor (Tools->Internet Options->Content) enabled? If so, try disabling it.

You will need to create a boot disk.  I have found one the will load completely from a single floppy disk.  You can search the internet for one or you can use the one I have.

If your old computer has a floppy drive and you can not get it to boot from a floppy disk.  You will need change the boot sequence in the BIOS. A computer usually boots from a hard drive, but it can also boot from a disk or a CD-ROM.  When you first turn on your computer, it will tell you what button you need to press to enter the setup.  Most computers use F1 or F2.

The floppy drive is always refers to as A: drive.  You want A: to be the first choice in the boot sequence.

Insert the disk and give it a test.  The computer should boot from disk and load the games and programs into memory.

I have tested and used this operating system on Dell Latitude CPi's, old IBM Thinkpads and Panasonic Toughbooks.

You can customize it, by adding you own desktop background image.  My son likes Hot Wheel cars, so I made his using Hot Wheels wallpaper.

If you child has trouble using the touch mouse pad on your laptop, you should be able to connect a wired PS/2 mouse.

If the computer you want to use for this has only a CD-ROM, that's fine.  You will need to boot from a cd called a LiveCD.  There a many LiveCD's to choose from on the Internet.  My favorite is DSL (Damn Small Linux) and my son likes Puppy Linux, because of the cute puppy.

Booting from a CD will require more memory.  DSL and Puppy only require 64 megabytes, but more is always better. So, dig that old computer out of the closet and put it to use.  This is a great way to recycle your old laptop.
