What netbook to purchase. Samsung NC10 OR Asus Eee PC 1000HE?

I am debating between the samsung nc10 Special edition which runs for 499 and the Asus Eee PC 1000HE which is 374, from amazon.

1000HE is a no brainer. newer CPU, faster frontside bus, faster memory speed, 9.5 hour battery life.

It's the only netbook on the market (for the next 30 days anyway) with the new Atom 280 cpu, and will be the only one of any brand with anywhere near that battery life for a long time

Specifications: The HP Mini 311 is currently one of the latest netbook models in the market. Instead of the classic 10.1-inch design, this netbook has a 11.6-inch display instead. This netbook comes with a 1.6Ghz Intel Atom N270 processor, 1GB of DDR3 RAM, a 160GB hard drive and Windows XP OS. The highlight of this new model would definitely be its screen. It is a HD LED back-lit screen with a 1366 x 768 resolution. To make the best out of this HD screen, this netbook even has a NVIDIA ION LE graphics processor that is very seldom found on netbook models.

Design: The new HP Mini is slightly larger than before to accommodate the larger 11.6-inch HD screen. Nevertheless, it is still extremely portable, measuring at just around 11.4 x 8.03 x 1 inches in dimensions. It weighs just 3.22 pounds. The keyboard is very comfortable to use (as HP netbooks are famous for), and the overall design is very sleek and stylish.

Features & Performance: Thanks to the powerful graphics card, the HP Mini 311 has now become a capable gaming machine (by netbook standards). We had no problems playing World of Warcraft and a variety of other games with the right graphic setting. HD video playback was also flawless on this netbook. Despite the HD features, this netbook has remained very affordable. Currently, this netbook is priced at just around $399 per unit. The only serious competitor to this model would be the Acer Aspire AS1410 11.6-inch laptop (which has a similar price but has more powerful specs). Other than that, the HP Mini 311 has proved to be a great netbook model.

Is the Asus Eee Pc 1000HE good for the price?

I decided to buy a netbook so I can do work on the go a 10 inch screen is perfect I dont want it bigger or smaller.
Is the Asus Eee Pc 1000HE good for the buck? I can get it at my local shop 536$ Canadian.

Although the Acer Aspire One notebooks are generally cheaper than the Asus eee pc's, the asus 1000he has a longer battery life and easier access to upgrading the ram and hard drive.

There are many different types of netbook cases, so you'll want to choose one that fits your needs perfectly so you get a netbook bag that you're happy with. Here are the major types of netbook bags, each for a recommended usage:

Netbook Pouch

A netbook pouch is typically a netbook bag that does not have any straps - it looks close to what would commonly be called a clutch if you were looking at it in women's fashion terms. The netbook pouch is great if you just want a protective covering for your netbook, or you're going to be putting it in something else. Most will fit your netbook very tightly, and will also have a padded covering inside. You'll also want to look at ones that have zippers that won't scratch your netbook - most do take precautions.

Netbook Sleeve

The netbook sleeve is similar to the netbook pouch, but it may or may not have a zipper top. These netbook pouches tend to be made in fashionable styles and colors, making it great for a women's netbook case choice. This type of netbook bag is made to go inside of something else, or just for light storage. It can have a padded covering, but typically this is the most plain as far as design goes, as well as being one of the least expensive of the netbook cases.

Netbook Messenger Bag

The netbook messenger bag is much smaller than your typical messenger bag - so if you're like me, you're going to consider that a very good thing. I personally was never a fan of just how bulky my 15.4 inch laptop messenger bag was - now that I'm dealing with a 10.1 inch netbook bag I'm much happier. One big different from the two types of messengers is the fact that netbooks are small enough to be put into either a vertical or a horizontal positioning. I personally am enjoying a vertical alignment messenger bag, and I use it as my normal purse as well.

Netbook Backpack

A netbook backpack is a no brainer for high school and college students - the netbook is about the same size as most books (although they are much thinner) so a good sized backpack for a netbook should give you plenty of space for your books and other gadgets as well. If you spend a lot of time traveling light, this would also be a good idea, although not quite as good as a specific travel bag made for the netbook. Many backpacks are also convertible into messenger bags or plain cases, although that depends on the brand.

Designer Netbook Bag

When you have bags of any sort, you have designer bags of various sorts. If you need a high end netbook bag to go with your high end style, these are the types that you're going to want to go to. There are many high end designers that are starting to look at the smaller netbook size for their technology lines, and most of the time you're going to see interesting layouts as far as pockets and compartments, luxury materials, and other bells and whistles that you only get by living on the wild side of things.

Hard Protective Netbook Case

If you're looking for a case that you can keep on all the time, and you're also looking for the protection only a hard protective netbook case can give, then this is the perfect choice for you. It's also good if you think your netbook is going to be used in very rugged situations, or if you're just a wee bit clumsy.

If you travel for business, you are going to want a bag that can fit most of your essentials along with your netbook. Cant find wireless network?

i just got a new laptop, an asus ul80vt, and am trying to connect to my wireless network at home. I can see other networks around the area just not my own. I'm runing windows 7.My housemates macbooks can connect just fine, as did my old hp laptop. I can connect directly using a lan cord but it wont detect the wireless. Please help.
That sounds like it would work, but i cant seem to find anything in the properties pertaining to the type of signal being searched for, let alone how to change it. How would i go about doing this in more detail?

You may have to change the Properties of the network card so that it is compatible with your wireless router. It sounds like your computer may be searching for just a wireless N signal, when it should be looking for a G, A or B. Most laptops come standard with Wireless N cards these days as it is the newer technology. Click Start>> type in Device Manager in the Start Search >> expand the Network Adapters in the Device Manager >> right click the Network Adapter >> click on Properties>> Then search through for the signal it is looking for. Also verify what signal your router is sending out.

The laptop LCD module disassembly guide :

This guide will provide help for those who want to disassemble their laptop LCD.

Be sure that the problem you face is a hardware problem, and also your laptop should not be under warranty, because laptop disassembly void warranty.

Before search on the net for service manuals some are free and other cost around 6$ or less, in the case that you are not finding your model download some free service manual from different brands and read them many steps are the same in laptop disassembly and also some pictures can be useful.

Now prepare a clean working area , and if you want a pen and a paper to note particular step.

To disassemble the LCD, you need the tools below:

Wrist ground strap and conductive mat for preventing electrostatic discharge

Small Phillips screw driver

Flat head screw driver

Hexagonal driver

Tweezers

Removing the LCD Module from the Main Unit :

This example is with an Acer aspire 5100, you have to remove the middle cover from the edge of the middle cover and carefully detach the middle cover, next disconnect the LCD cable and any other cable that you can see, release any screws holding the LCD module on the bottom side of the main unit, release any other screws securing the LCD hinges on the main unit, then detach the LCD module from the main unit.

Disassembling the LCD Module :

Remove the four screw cushions on the LCD bezel then release the four screws holding the

LCD bezel.

Carefully detach the LCD bezel from the LCD module.

Tear off the tapes holding the LVDS cable and the LCD cable then release the two screws

securing the inverter board.

After that Carefully disconnect the LVDS cable.

Carefully disconnect the LCD cable then remove the inverter board.

Release the two screws securing the LCD panel.

Then detach the LCD panel.

Release the eight screws holding the left and right LCD brackets and remove the LCD

brackets.

Finally tear off the tape holding the LCD cable.

Carefully pull and disconnect the LCD cable.
