How much should I sell this Sony Vaio for?

I've got a Sony Vaio VGN N21E/W. I've put it on ebay, but not sure exactly how much I should be looking for. The AC power connection is very loose, and it needs a new battery, but otherwise it is in very good order. I have got a Vaio carry case with it, and the adaptor is almost new. Suggestions in GBP, please. I spent £450 on it originally, but know it is only worth about £150-£200ish this days. Thanks!

Actually, with the faults you mention it is probably not worth very much at all. A scratch on the case of a laptop I looked at recently took £100 off the price and that was a new one.

How to adjust clock speed toshiba satellite pro 4600?

This laptop orig had win 98 on it, now updated to xp, can anyone tell me oe to adjust clock speed as I cannot find it in the bios.

Max is talking about the date and time clock...

If you mean that you want to overclock a toshy sat from 98? then you may have some problems.

Firstly the CPU probably wasnt built to overclock, as most mobile CPUs arnt.

If you can overclock it, you may do some damage to your laptop, as it causes the CPU to overheat and can shorten its life.

You could go for a CPU upgrade if your feeling adventurous!

Does anyone know where I can find an expandable tote bag with wheels (capable of expanding to a large size piece of luggage) in San Francisco? Preferably near Fisherman's Wharf? Similar bags can be found in New York for about $15 and I was looking for such an inexpensive option

There are some bag stores in Fisherman's Wharf as well. But you might get a bag for $5 cheaper in Chinatown. Try Grant Avenue between Columbus and Bush.

How to improve my Compaq c700 laptop battery backup?

am having a c797vu laptop; it was giving a battery backup of 3 hrs ,but now its reduced to 20 minutes!

basically you used to get three hours and now you get 20 mins?

If so, then your battery is shot. Next time, if you have your battery in, and plugged into your charger at all times. thats your problem. when the charger and battery are both in they kill the battery by recirculating it all the time. if your planning on leaving it on a desk most of the time then take out the battery, not hard, it has levers to pull, and leave the charger in at all times, and just put the battery in when you need to. Just be careful when you pull the charger out, and remember the battery isn't plugged in.

The laptop market is an overcrowded field with literally hundreds of offerings available to consumers. Some laptops are very basic models with Celeron processors while others are full blown multimedia powerhouses. Featured here are three top models from the “plain Jane” to the middle of the road, to the fully loaded.

Dell Inspiron 1200 – It is possible to purchase a notebook computer for considerably less than $1000 and Dell offers several models below this threshold including the Inspiron 1200. This particular model is the price leader amongst laptops especially when rebates are figured in. A recent Dell advertisement has been touting the Inspiron 1200 for just $499 after a $150For rebate is received. What do you get with this model? Not a whole lot: an Intel Celeron M Processor 350 (1.30 GHz/1MB Cache/400MHz FSB); Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition; 30GB Ultra ATA Hard Drive; and 24X CD Burner/DVD Combo Drive. HP Compaq nx9600 Notebook – HP’s acquisition of Compaq has produced a nice line up of notebook computers including this particular model geared toward those consumers replacing their desktop computer. Retailing at just over $1300 [before $100 rebate] this midrange offering is nicely loaded as it offers a 17" screen; Microsoft Windows XP Professional Edition; an Intel Pentium 4 Processor with Hyper-Threading Technology; a 40 GB hard drive; a 12 cell battery; wireless connectivity; and graphics oriented software.

Sony VAIO FS675P/H Notebookspacer – The Sony Vaio name is typically associated with high performing, high priced offerings. The VAIO® FS675P/H Notebookspacer fits the bill as this workhorse retails at just under $2000. Chief features of this model are: an Intel Pentium M Processor 750 (1.86 Ghz); Microsoft Windows XP Professional; DVD+R Double Layer/DVD+-RW; 1GB RAM; and a 100GB hard drive. The screen is 15.4" Widescreen5 LCD with XBRITE™ Technology and all of Sony’s top digital software for photography, video and audio are included as standard equipment.

All three models attract different types of consumers, but each model is a standout in its respective class. Consumers are the winner when it comes to shopping for a laptop as prices continue to drop, new features are added, and technology improves with every new model marketed.
