my laptop/notebook wont turn on?

i have a sony vaio laptop/notebook (not sure which). last night my internet wasnt working, so i restarted the computer because usually when i do that the internet comes back on. well this time it went off and never came back on.
i plugged in the computer to make sure it wasnt just because it wasnt charged. i tried pressing the power button and some other buttons.

there are little lights near the bottom of my laptop and the one next to the power symbol is green. (also there is a button th just turn the screen off and i tried pressing that to make sure it wasnt just the screen.)
can anybody help me fix this???

My first recommendation is to turn the laptop upside down and put it gently on its head, make sure it is closed when doing this.

Then locate the lock mechanism for the battery. Normally it is a sliding piece. Assuming this, slide the piece open and take out the battery. Then sniff the battery bay to see if there is a burnt smell. Hopefully this is not the case. Could be your motherboard is fried which is the worst case senario. Gently put the battery back in place after a few minutes. Turn the laptop back over, and try the power button again.

HP laptops are known to have battery issues, not sure about Sony's. Hope this helps.
