Loose power adapter on Inspiron 6000 Dell Laptop?

Hello!
I am working on a friends Dell Inspiron 6000 Laptop. One of the problems is that the port that the Power Plug plugs into on the back of the laptop is very loose.

So loose that you have to position the plug a certain way for the laptop to charge. I don't think that the problem is the cord, but the port is worn. Normally I would replace the entire motherboard to replace the port, but this person is on a budget so I was trying to find a way to "tighten" the port without replacing the motherboard.

I havent pulled the motherboard out yet to try and tighten this, I wanted to ask first if it can even be done.

Can this be done, or any idea's how to?

I just had a similar thing happen to my gateway... I took it in, they said it was the dc jack so they ordered a new one and soldered it on - so there should be a way for you to fix it without replacing the motherboard. However they found out after doing that, it was in fact the motherboard. Best of luck to you.
