Why is my remaining battery time always so low?

Ok, so I have a Toshiba Portege M750, and it is used for school. I notice that my friend (who has the same computer as me; everyone at the school gets the same exact laptop) has a battery remaining time of about 9 hours when on Power Saver mode (on 100% battery charge). For me, however, I only have a remaining battery time of 5 hours at the most when on Power Saver mode. And it's not just my friend who has 9 hours remaining. A lot of other people have the same also. Why is mine so low? I don't download anything more than what others do, and I don't play games on it either. What could be the issue?

When batteries get old they eventually can not retain the same amount of power as new and therefore when the computer states it is fully charged it is but the battery is not fully being used because some of the cells in the battery are damaged. The way you know it is faulty or wearing out is just what you recognize that your battery when indicating fully charged does not last as long as it used to or compared to your fellow classmates laptops. Let your administrator know so that they can give you a new battery if possible. Good luck.
