Fits Compaq Presario

Compaq Presario 2100 RAM question?

I'm looking to increase the ram on my laptop. I have read that it has a maximum capacity of 1GB. So I should probably buy 2x 512MB. However last time I had it open (thought the ram could have came loose) I noticed that the ram would only fit in one slot. I was going to place it in slot #2 to see if that helped but it did not match up.

In addition to volts, laptop batteries are rated by either watt-hours (WHr) or milliamp-hours (MAh). These ratings are indicative of the amount of charge that a battery pack will hold and subsequently how long they will operate the computer. A laptop computer's battery pack is simply a number of rechargeable cells that are stored inside of a plastic housing and are managed by a controlling circuit board. Therefore, a battery pack that contains more cells will have a higher WHr or MAh rating and operate the computer for a longer period of time.

For a practical example, we will consider replacing the battery pack for a Dell Inspiron 9200. The two batteries offered by Dell are both rated at 11.1 volts. The six cell battery is rated at 53 watt-hours and the nine cell battery is rated at 80 watt-hours. They are currently priced at $135.99 and $155.99 respectively. The 80 watt-hour rated battery will operate the computer one and a half times longer than the lower rated battery when it is unplugged. Since this extended battery costs about 15% more than the standard battery, we would be wise to purchase it to gain the extended operating time relative to its small incremental cost. The 80 watt-hour battery offers a clear value to the standard 53 watt-hour battery with which the laptop was originally equipped and is an ideal upgrade.

So when you need to replace your laptop computer's battery, consider your options by understanding the battery's specifications and buy the battery that offers the best value. I am using DELL for the past 6 months. Before that I used LENOVA. If you highly give importance for performance rather than pricing DELL is the BEST. Always there has some problem in Lenova, it gets hang, highly frustrating. Also the main advantage of Dell is you can reconfigure the specification online and buy. If shipping and billing address in Tamilnadu, you can get raid of sales tax till 2010 because the assembling factory is in TN and they have some agreement with TN government.

I enjoyed my DELL and you could be another one....

NTP servers are essential devices for computer network synchronisation. Ensuring a network coincides with UTC (Coordinated Universal Time) is vital in modern communications such as the Internet and is the primary function of the network time server (NTP time server).

As their name suggests, these servers use the protocol NTP (Network Time Protocol) to handle the synchronisation requests. NTP is already installed in many operating systems and synchronisation is possible without an NTP server by utilising an Internet clock source, this can be unsecure and inaccurate for many network needs.

NTP servers receive a far more accurate and secure time signal. There are two methods of receiving the time using a server like this: either utilise the GPS network or receiving long wave radio transmissions.

Both these methods of receiving a clock source are secure as they are external to any network firewall. They are also accurate as both these clock references are generated directly by atomic clocks rather than an Internet clock service that are normally NTP devices connected to a third party atomic clock.

The GPS network provides an ideal reference clock for NTP servers as the signals are available anywhere. The only downside of using the GPS network is that a view of the sky is required to lock-on to a satellite.

Radio referenced sources are more flexible in that the long wave signal can be received indoors. They are limited in strength and not every country has a time signal although some signals such as the German DCF and the USA WVBB are available in neighbouring states.
